The Storm Runner by J. Cervantes Published by Rick Riordan Presents, an imprint of Disney Book Group In Stores September 18, Recommended for ages How can one boy with a limp stop the Maya god of death, disaster, and darkness from destroying the world? Zane has always enjoyed exploring the dormant volcano near his home in New Mexico, even though hiking it is challenging. He’d much rather hang out there with his dog, Rosie, than go to middle school, where kids call him Sir Limps a Lot, McGimpster, or Uno — for his one good leg.
What Zane doesn’t know is that the volcano is a gateway to another world and he is at the center of a powerful prophecy. A new girl at school, Brooks, informs him that he’s destined to release an evil god from the ancient Maya relic he is imprisoned in–unless she can find and remove it first.

Sorry, something has gone wrong. First and foremost, everyone should read what appeals to them as a reader, not what other people say they can or cannot read. Harlequin novels are as varied as any other set of books from a publisher that deals in a specific genre. Those who claim they are ‘trash’ or smut have clearly never read more than one, and they either made a snap judgment or are repeating the squawks they have heard from other people who have likely never picked up a Harlequin book in their lives.
Fourteen is certainly old enough to start reading about romance. There are many other layers to the story than girl-meets-boy, and many of them are sassy, fun, and plain old good reads. If sorting through the adult romance section of the bookstore or library makes a teen uncomfortable, or they’re looking for something by Harlequin that isn’t your stereotypical romance, definitely check out their Teen line.
Several of their titles include: Inside Out, by Maria V. Readers should give them a chance and make a decision on their own, not based on what the masses tell them.
All Sophie wants is to forget what happened last summer. And now her best friend, Abigail, cares more about parties and boys than hanging out with Sophie. Lost in memories of the life she once had — before that terrible day — Sophie retreats into herself.

Howard Books; Original edition April 13, Language: When she talks her reluctant husband into adopting a Chinese orphan, she expects her dream to come true. Lucky Baby takes the reader on a realistic yet mystical journey into the complexities of family life. I had no idea how I’d love this book before I’d started reading it. I was deeply captivated by Meredith’s wonderful literary prose. I felt as if there was a power in her writing that deeply affects the reader, be it happiness, joy, grief and sadness.
Growing up under the pressure and disapproval of her mother, Meg Lindsay was determined to be a mother who was able to shower selfless, unconditional love onto her adopted daughter, Eva. However, she sometimes wondered if her decision of adopting Eva was right, because her daughter seemed to hate America and was unhappy while living under the same roof with her.

The Gathering Darkness Rising 1 Author: HarperCollins Sixteen-year-old Maya is just an ordinary teen in an ordinary town. Sure, she doesn’t know much about her background – the only thing she really has to cling to is an odd paw-print birthmark on her hip – but she never really put much thought into who her parents were or how she ended up with her adopted parents in this tiny medical-research community on Vancouver Island.
Strange things have been happening in this claustrophobic town – from the mountain lions that have been approaching Maya to her best friend’s hidden talent for “feeling” out people and situations, to the sexy new bad boy who makes Maya feel. Combine that with a few unexplained deaths and a mystery involving Maya’s biological parents and it’s easy to suspect that this town might have more than its share of skeletons in its closet. This is a continuation of her fantastic Darkest Power series with some new characters for us to get to know.
The story takes place in a little town on Vancouver Island where a medical research facility is housed. Almost the entire town has some connection to the facility and therefore, their security and seclusion is a matter for the community and not just the facility, itself. Everyone knows everyone else and all their business in this idyllic little town and the children are trained from a young age how to handle reporters and possible corporate spies.

Did I have some issues with it? Would I recommend it to a teen girl? In an absolute heartbeat. We meet Annabel straight off knowing that something happened at an end of school year party, something that destroyed her friendship with the bitchy diva Sophie and made Annabel a popular topic for the rumor mill.
As the new school year begins, Annabel feels completely ostracized, to the point where she spends her lunch hour sitting on a bench — a safe distance away — from the violent loner Owen Armstrong.
Goodreads What if the characters in a vampire novel left their world–and came into yours? Amy is in love with someone who doesn’t exist: Alexander Banks, the dashing hero in a popular series of vampire novels. Then one night, Amy meets a boy who bears an eerie resemblance to Alexander. In fact, he IS Alexander, who has escaped from the pages of the book and is in hot pursuit of a wicked vampire named Vigo.
Together, Amy and Alexander set out to track Vigo and learn how and why Alexander crossed over. But when she and Alexander begin to fall for each other, Amy wonders if she even wants him to ever return to the realm of fiction. This book was good! I enjoyed it a lot. The thing that was so different is the story itself… the fact that a character in a book came to life for an avid reader. How awesome is that? The sub-story was that he was a vampire hunter after a bad-ass vamp.
